QUT INTERNATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
A high achievement scholarship for future international undergraduate and postgraduate students. We offer a wide range of scholarships designed to support students from various backgrounds and with diverse achievements.
Scholarships are available for students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, aspiring entrepreneurs, those experiencing financial hardship, students from rural or regional areas, and individuals with outstanding achievements in academics, sports, esports, creative fields, or STEM. Some scholarships are also specific to certain areas of study.
To give yourself the best opportunity, be sure to research all available scholarships and apply for those you are eligible for.
About The International Merit Scholarship
QUT international merit scholarship, there are several but few things you will receive once you are eligible for the scholarship, which includes;
You’ll receive either:
- a scholarship to cover 25% of your tuition fees for your first two semesters (one year) of study at QUT, provided you meet the minimum academic standards.
- available from all faculties.
- an ongoing scholarship to cover 25% of your tuition fees per semester of study at QUT, provided you meet the ongoing academic conditions for all eligible courses offered by:
- Faculty of Business and Law
- Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice
- Faculty of Engineering
- Faculty of Science.
The ongoing scholarship is not available for courses offered by the Faculty of Health.
Other benefits may include membership to the QUT College of Excellence.
General elegibility criteria for QUT INTERNATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Although several parameters comes to play when it comes to eligibility of some international students.
You must meet the following criterias;
1. Meet the academic entry requirements.
- meet minimum English language entry requirements for the degree program. If you complete a QUT pathway program for the purpose of satisfying QUT English language requirements, you may be eligible for this scholarship once you start your degree program
- receive an admission offer letter into one of the eligible courses offered by participating faculties.
Note that other factors (e.g. educational disruption, medical circumstances, financial needs) will not be taken into consideration for this scholarship – eligibility is solely determined on your academic record.
You’re not eligible if you receive another QUT INTERNATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP.
- You will not be reconsidered for the scholarship if you are returning to your prior course of study at QUT.
Most degrees available at the QUT INTERNATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
The QUT International Merit Scholarship is available for these faculties:
- Faculty of Business and Law
- Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice
- Faculty of Engineering
- Faculty of Health
- Faculty of Science.
It is available for students who:
- have demonstrated academic excellence in their past studies
- continue to achieve high standards for the duration of their studies.
In addition to the financial support, you are encouraged to make the most of your QUT experience through extra development opportunities, which build your leadership skills and professional networks.

Minimum academic standards: postgraduate degrees
Your best result from your postgraduate studies or completed degree(s) will be used in determining your eligibility.

How to apply
If you are new to QUT we will assess your qualifications provided in your application when you apply to study at QUT for an eligible course, and we will let you know if you meet the criteria.
This scholarship is not available to current QUT students unless you have already been awarded the scholarship as part of a package offer that you are currently enrolled in at QUT.
