KEYNOTES ABOUT GLOBAL KOREA SCHOLARSHIP 2025(GKS)
- The Korean language program is required for most scholars. However, exemptions apply to those in the Research Program, Global Network Program, and scholars who:
- Achieve TOPIK Level 5 or 6
- Are academic professors in a fully English-taught program
- Complete the IRTS Korean Language Program with TOPIK/TOPIK IBT Level 3 or higher.
- Scholars who reach TOPIK Level 5 or 6 within the first 6 months of the language program will skip the remaining 6 months and begin their degree in March 2026 instead of September 2026.

Global Korea Scholarship 2025 University Track Quota By Country
To apply for the Global Korea Scholarship(GKS), Applicants should check the list of countries that are available for the scholarship below,
- General: 150 scholars from 55 countries or regions/
- R-GKS: 465 scholars from 56 countries or regions

Eligibility Criteria for GKS Scholarship 2025
Eligibility Criteria for the GKS Program (Undergraduate)
Nationality
Must be a citizen of a country designated by NIIED and invited to participate in the GKS program.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree Program:
Open to students who have graduated (or will graduate) from high school or an associate degree program.
Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are not eligible.
Associate Degree Program:
Open to students who have graduated (or will graduate) from high school.
Note: Applicants who expect to graduate must submit a certificate of expected graduation during the application. If selected in the first round, they must submit their official graduation certificate by December 31, 2024.
GPA Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:A score percentile of 80% or higher on a 100-point scale, or
Ranking in the top 20% of their class, or
A cumulative GPA of:
2.64/4.0
2.80/4.3
2.91/4.5
3.23/5.0
Age
Must be under 25 years old, i.e., born after March 1, 2000.
Health
Must be in good physical and mental health to complete their studies in Korea.
Note: Applicants with an associate degree can only apply for a bachelor’s degree program.
